My Microneedling Experience and Review

I turned 29 this year and I actually really enjoy getting older. I feel like each year I get more self assured, confident in who I am and comfortable in my skin. That being said, I’ve also never been more aware of my skin. I have definitely started to see some things happening that I never had to worry about until now. Things like large pores, expression lines, texture and dark spots from the sun. Yikes!

So I decided that I was going to start taking control and really caring for my skin. I was never really bad to my skin, I hardly ever sleep in makeup, I always wash, cleanse, tone (sometimes) and moisturized but that was about it. Up until a few months ago I had never even had a facial! I also never knew what skin care products I should be using. Thankfully, Taylor Campbell from Restorative Injectables came into my life and helped me out. She offers so many different treatments, so if you are hesitant about injectables (like I was) she has so many other services that can get you looking flawless! She is such an expert and makes you feel at ease.

We had a consultation and went over some of the things that I was concerned about and wanting to do. She put me on a new skin care regiment (allll the details coming soon in another post) that has literally changed my skin’s appearance and suggested that we try some Microneedling treatments.

Now when she said she was going to take a bunch of little needles to my face I was a little scared lol! Taylor put me at ease and got me super excited by describing the process and benefits.

Let’s start with the good stuff.

The Benefits

-Helps STOP the early signs of aging and prevents fine lines and wrinkles

-Increases product absortion

-Helps with sun damage

-Acne scars

-Dark spots

-Enlarged pores

-Uneven skin tone

Are you convinced yet? Because I was!

How it works

The procedure involves using fine needles to create hundreds of tiny, invisible puncture wounds on the top layer of the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate the body’s naurtal wound healing process which then creates cell turnover and production of collagen and elastin.

The Procedure

First a topical anestnetic cream is put on your skin to numb your face and keep you comfortable during the procedure. It is minimally invasive so don’t worry. Most of the treatment didn’t hurt, there were points where it was a little uncomfortable you could say. On a scale of 1-10 the highest pain I felt was maybe a 4 and that lasted about 30 seconds. After your face is numb your aeshetician will go over your face with the needling device a few times. Like I said, it’s not really painful just slightly uncomfortable.

When I was done my face was definitely pink for the rest of the day and kind of just felt like I had a bit of a sunburn. Use a gentle cleanser, like Cetaphil, the next day and 3 days after. You shouldn’t wear anything but powder for three days after, don’t use anything that will clog your pores. Also, be sure to use sunscreen!

The pink and sunburn feeling last for a couple of days after and you feel like your face is a bit sandy. On day 4 I had a lot of dead skin flaking off. After that stage I noticed a difference in the smoothness of my skin, especially on my forehead! Below are some terrible selfies I took (lol!), not my best looks but I’m putting them out there for the sake of showing you guys how much smoother my skin looked! I have no face makeup on in these pics, I just have my brows filled in, a little mascara and some lips, because I’m vain haha!

This is just after one treatment, however it can take multiple treatments to improve things like acne scars but I think it’s clear just one can make a difference! I hope this inspires you to give this exciting treatment a try!! If you live in Denver be sure to get in touch with Taylor and start taking control of your skin!

Always,
Amber
