I completed my training with Niccole from Peak 8 Fitness and it was such an informative 6 weeks. I really learned to move my body in ways I hadn’t before. So many of the exercises Niccole gave me were brand new to me and I really liked the way we always were changing the workouts.
One thing that really surprised me is how the changes I made were visible with just two days a week of working out with her in the gym and the results stayed even when I had an injury and didn’t workout for over a week. From the beginning our goals were to make small changes to my body, really trying to tone and add more definition. I began to see changes within two and a half weeks and began receiving compliments too! I usually feel like you start to see subtle changes in your body first and then people begin to notice but it happened pretty simultaneously for me.
I picked Niccole’s brain on how this was possible and she explained to me that we had been building lean muscle mass which is why I was able to see and maintain my results fairly easily.
Building lean muscle mass helps you:
- burn calories more efficiently
- lose weight: muscle mass is the engine of the calorie burning machine. The more muscle you have on your body, the more efficiently you burn calories, the more efficient you’re at rest. The more toned you are and the easier is it to maintain your weight.
- muscle also helps protect your joints from injury
- improves quality of life
I think the most valuable lesson I got from this is how great it feels to change up your routine on a regular basis and push yourself to step out of your comfort zone, especially when you have someone guiding you through it.
